Flaaks DuPoncho
Choose the comfort of changing whenever you want, and wherever you want. An outdoor athlete often changes clothes on the spot, everywhere and nowhere. In the vicinity of other people, this can cause uncomfortable moments. During such an uncomfortable moment, the idea of a 'changing poncho' was born. Changing clothes unseen after cycling, swimming or running is now a piece of cake!
From plan(t) to poncho
The unique design ensures that the uncomfortable feeling of changing clothes outside is a thing of the past; full coverage, quick drying and changing in peace. The linen is very comfortable to wear, feels soft, is moisture absorbent and lasts a lifetime. The designs are composed from an artistic point of view, timeless and with the natural colours of the linen.
Wadden Sea of Value
Flaaks works closely with Wad van Waarde. They manifest themselves
for a plastic-free Wadden area and circular system changes. One of the initiatives is to stimulate flax cultivation and to bring back the appreciation for linen as a sustainable alternative. The production is in the hands of VanHullly. This is a social-societal workplace for talented women in a work-study program.
Origin
Flax is an ancient crop that was grown on a large scale on Frisian clay soil in the nineteenth century. In the twentieth century, flax faced competition from synthetic fibres, causing flax cultivation to disappear from view for decades. Flax is currently gaining popularity again as an alternative solution for (micro)plastics.
This is Flaaks
Flaaks owes its name to the Frisian name for the word flax. Flaaks strives for functional products, sustainable alternatives and circular (value) chains. The DuPoncho is the very first product developed by Flaaks. It was a project of several years that we look back on with pride. This initiative shows that a circular collaboration is possible. The goal is to inspire the world to make different choices. Flaaks brings the value of local chains and pure craftsmanship to life.
